At the time, Gang Shan Zih was a very prosperous and populated area. People thought the downfall of this area was because the cutting of nine mango trees destroy which was the meeting den of nine dragons. There are only a little more families left in the area. In 1947, among villages local gentlemen decided to build three three-section compounds for people to worship the holy god mother. For the management of the temple property and ceremonies, Sie Tien Fu was assigned as the manager in December of 1951, Yao Deng Yun in August of 1953, Jhuang Ju Huo in January of 1954. Sie Lin was the manager and Yao Ching Tai was the bookkeeper in 1962. Jhuang Min Jin was the manager and Yao Sin Jun was the bookkeeper in1965. In 1968, Yao Ching Yu was the manager and Sie Jhao Yuen was the bookkeeper. In 1987, Wang Jien Cih was the manager and Chen Wei Zai was the bookkeeper and renovation planner. It was because the holy god mother gave us the the prosperity and more people come to the area and worship in the temple. The suggestion of renovation came up again, so the committee of renovation formed and Juang Ming Jin was voted as the president of the committee. The committee applied the rebuild from Kaohsiung city government. On the seventeenth day of twelfth month on lunar calendar in 1980, the renovation started. The total floor area is two hundred seventy-five pings and more than twenty-six million dollars spent. It took three years to finish and the grand opening ceremony was held on the twenty-ninth day of the eleventh month on lunar calendar in 1984. The successful renovation of Bao An Temple was due to the hard work and devotion of the committee and the devotees donated the money for it. Now with such a magnificent palace-style Bao An temple, people in Gang Shan should be thankful for the holy god mother to protect the peace in the area and grant the safety of the renovation. Locals should be humble to worship and then get all benefit from it.
